![]() | Joyce and I first met in 1974. We both worked for GW Plastics in Bethel Vermont. In 1976 I was transferred to Phoenix Arizona to head a design department at GW’s Phoenix facility. My time in Phoenix was very short (6 months), as GW decided to close the facility. That was a good experience though, I loved that city. | |
"A Pet-Ah-Cure"
Here's two oldtimers, going about their business. Bob & Kermit |
I was transferred back to Vermont and resumed my duties as a mold designer. As it sometimes happens, our spouse’s decided that their lives would be better without us. A friendship developed, and soon a romance. And here we are 30 years later. In 1978 we left GW and moved to the Boston area. I had a job with Data Packaging Corp and Joyce got a job with LFE Corp in Waltham. It did not take long for us to start to long for our home in Vermont. We talked, and decided we would save for a year, and return to Vermont and start our own business. Well, we got an SBA loan, bought a small molding machine, and set up business at our home in Corinth Vermont. Our first customer (and best) was Data Packaging Corp. Our business was very successful. We grew from one molding machine to three molding machines with a complete machine shop to build the molds. We ran the molding machines “24-7” with Joyce getting up several times at night to fill the hoppers with raw material. Winters were very interesting as we lived at the end of a 700’ long driveway with a 100’ rise. Our material was delivered in 1000lb lots. Guess how that material got up to the house after a 3’ snow fall. While we were busy with the molding business, we also ran a farm. I raised Morgan horses and Joyce raised sheep. We also raised turkeys and pigs. In 1993 we closed our business and moved to the Berkshire’s. I had a job opportunity with Apex Engineering that served me well for many years. Joyce worked for EPRI as an Admin with great success. We are now at retirement age, but determined to continue working. |
